Simon Erasimus


Conductor and singer Simon Erasimus (*1995) began his studies at the age of 15 at the Diözesankonservatorium für Kirchenmusik St. Pölten, where he took conducting lessons with Otto Kargl. Since 2015 Simon Erasimus has studied music education (specialising in choral conducting) with Alois Glaßner and vocal pedagogy with Johannes Geppert (Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst Wien) as well as orchestral conducting (Musik und Kunst Privatuniversität Wien) and musicology (Universität Wien).

During his studies Simon Erasimus founded MOMENTUM Vocal Music, an artistic und educational organisation dedicated to vocal music, performing concerts and workshops throughout the year and consisting of two ensembles, an music education department and the choir-themed podcast “sprech:Gesang”.

As a singer, Simon Erasimus has taken voice lessons and ensemble workshops with Maria Cristina Kiehr and VOCES8 and has worked with a number of choirs and ensembles such as Arnold Schoenberg Chor, Domkantorei St. Pölten, Bachchor Salzburg, Philharmonia Chor, Chorus Sine Nomine, Company of Music, Solistenensemble der Dommusik St. Pölten and Vokalensemble St. Stephan - together with these ensembles he has performed at the Musikverein and Konzerthaus Wien, Elbphilharmonie Hamburg and the cathedrals of Vienna and St. Pölten. He has also sung at Wien Modern and the Salzburg Festival under the direction of Teodor Currentzis, Cornelius Meister and Roger Norrington.
